Preferred Drilling Contractor Selected for Zeb Nickel Project
Aim-listed URU Metals has selected Zaaiman Exploration Drilling as the preferred contractor for the next phase of resource drilling at its Zeb Nickel Project in Limpopo, South Africa.
The company’s subsidiary, Lesego Platinum Uitloop, completed the tender process for the Zone 2 resource drilling programme, with contract terms now being finalised.
Mobilisation is expected to begin once the agreement is concluded.
Zaaiman was selected following an assessment of its drilling capabilities, health and safety performance, compliance history, costs, rig availability and mobilisation timelines.
The contractor has previously conducted diamond drilling at Zeb and is familiar with the project’s ground conditions, access arrangements and operational requirements.
The drilling programme is expected to support a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate for the Zone 2 nickel-copper-platinum group elements (Ni-Cu-PGE) mineralisation.
URU said the quality of the recovered core would be important in generating the geological data required for the resource estimate.
Safety was also a key consideration in the selection process, with Zaaiman having recorded no fatal accidents since its establishment in 1992, including during its previous work at the Zeb project.
URU Metals said Zaaiman’s previous experience at Zeb was expected to help reduce mobilisation and establishment timelines as the company advances exploration and resource definition work at the project.
