Chinese mining giant Ganfeng Lithium has officially commenced production at the Goulamina Spodumene Project in Mali, marking a significant milestone in Africa’s lithium mining sector.
During its first phase, the Goulamina project is set to produce 506,000 tons of lithium concentrate annually, with plans to increase output to one million tons per year in its second phase.
The mine boasts a projected 23-year lifespan, during which it is expected to produce a total of 15.6 million tons of spodumene concentrate.
As one of Africa’s largest lithium projects, Goulamina represents a crucial step in meeting the growing global demand for lithium, a key component in batteries for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems.
