Elevate Reports Positive U-pgrade Pilot Plant Results for Namibia Graphite Project
Elevate Resources has reported positive results from its U-pgrade pilot plant programme in Namibia, strengthening the development case for its graphite project as the company advances plans to produce high-quality graphite concentrate.
The pilot programme was designed to test and optimise the U-pgrade processing technology using graphite ore from Elevate’s Namibian project.
The results are expected to provide important technical data for the project’s ongoing development and future processing design.
The company said the testing successfully demonstrated the ability to upgrade graphite concentrate while maintaining strong recovery rates.
The results are particularly important because producing a high-purity concentrate is a key requirement for accessing premium markets and supporting downstream applications.
Graphite is considered a critical mineral because of its importance in lithium-ion battery anodes, as well as applications across steelmaking, refractories and other industrial sectors.
Demand is expected to increase as battery manufacturing and electric vehicle production expand globally.
Elevate’s project is therefore being developed against a backdrop of growing interest in new sources of graphite outside China, which currently dominates much of the global graphite supply chain.
The successful pilot testing provides additional confidence in the project’s processing approach and will contribute to the next stages of technical and development work.
The company is now expected to use the pilot plant results to refine process flowsheets, support engineering studies and assess the requirements for potential commercial-scale operations.
For Namibia, the development adds to the country’s growing portfolio of critical-mineral projects and could contribute to efforts to establish a larger role in the global battery-materials supply chain.
With graphite demand expected to remain strong, the pilot plant results represent an important milestone for Elevate as it works towards developing a commercially viable graphite operation in Namibia.
