DRC manganese production reaches 3,976 tonnes in 2025 with uneven output peaks, mining data shows
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) produced and exported 3,976.24 tonnes of manganese concentrate in 2025, according to data from the Technical Unit for Mining Coordination and Planning (CTCPM) under the Ministry of Mines.
The figures, reviewed on May 12, indicate that manganese production during the year was uneven, marked by extended periods of low output interrupted by sharp production spikes.
According to the CTCPM report, peak activity was recorded in March, August, and October, with the highest monthly output reaching 512 tonnes.
Manganese is a key industrial metal widely used in the metallurgical sector, particularly in steel production, where it plays an essential role in improving strength and durability.
The data highlights the relatively small but strategically important role of manganese within the DRC’s broader mining portfolio, which is dominated by copper and cobalt production.
