Zimbabwe Halts Raw Mineral and Lithium Exports to Promote Local Value Addition and Compliance
Zimbabwe has suspended exports of all raw minerals and lithium concentrates with immediate effect, the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development announced on Wednesday.
The ban will remain in place until further notice and applies to all minerals currently in transit, the ministry said.
“Government expects full cooperation from the mining industry on this measure, which has been taken in the national interest,” the statement read.
The ministry added that the move reflects Zimbabwe’s commitment to in-country value addition and beneficiation, as well as to ensuring compliance and accountability in the export of the nation’s mineral resources.
