Vulcan Energy Partners with Glencore to Supply up to 44,000 Tonnes of Lithium Hydroxide from European Lionheart Project
Vulcan Energy Resources has signed a major supply agreement with global mining and commodities giant Glencore, securing a long-term partnership for the delivery of lithium hydroxide monohydrate from its flagship Lionheart Project, located on the French-German border.
Under the eight-year agreement, Vulcan will supply between 36,000 and 44,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide monohydrate to Glencore — representing around 20% of Vulcan’s planned production during that period.
The contract marks a key milestone for the company as it finalizes offtake commitments needed for Phase One project financing.
The Glencore deal follows previous agreements with Stellantis, Umicore, and LG Energy Solution, completing a diversified portfolio of offtake partners that span the automotive, battery manufacturing, and commodities trading sectors.
“Vulcan has now achieved a strong mix of offtake partners for Phase One lithium production — an automaker, a battery maker, a cathode manufacturer, and a commodities trader, all with a strong European focus,” said Cris Moreno, Vulcan Energy’s CEO and Managing Director.
The Lionheart Project is recognized as Europe’s largest lithium resource, positioning Vulcan at the heart of the continent’s drive for energy independence and sustainable battery materials.
The agreement strengthens Glencore’s foothold in the European electric vehicle supply chain and supports Vulcan’s mission to deliver zero-carbon lithium to power the continent’s transition to clean energy.
