NextSource Materials, in its pursuit of advancing the Molo graphite project in Madagascar, has named Johnny Velloza as the interim Chief Operating Officer (COO) following the resignation of Robin Borley.
Bringing over 30 years of comprehensive experience in the mining industry, Velloza has notably overseen operational enhancements and significant capital expansions across various commodities and multiple global jurisdictions.
His professional journey includes serving as the Deputy CEO and COO at Gem Diamonds, as well as holding the position of CEO at Chemaf.
Velloza’s earlier roles encompass key positions at industry giants such as BHP, where he managed operational efficiency initiatives and worked in senior exploration management roles in Zambia and Chile.
Moreover, his tenure includes substantial managerial contributions at AngloGold Ashanti and De Beers. Velloza holds Bachelor’s degrees in Mining Engineering from The University of Johannesburg and in Business from the University of South Africa.
Craig Scherba, President and CEO of NextSource, expressed enthusiasm about Velloza’s appointment, citing his pivotal role in implementing strategies to address operational challenges and expedite the Molo mine plant’s performance to reach its intended capacity.
