The mining industry of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) produced 60,972 tonnes of cobalt as of September 15 of the current year, reports the Central Bank of Congo (BCC).
According to the summary of statistical information from the BCC, during this period the company, Gécamines, produced around 11,171 tonnes of cobalt.
The rest of the country’s production, i.e. 49,801 tonnes, is produced by private partner companies of Gécamines and others.
For all of 2022, mining companies based in the Democratic Republic of Congo produced 115,371 tonnes of cobalt.
It should also be noted that the price of cobalt has fallen considerably since the end of last year on international markets.
To date, a tonne of cobalt is trading at $32,000 on the markets compared to a higher level of $86,000 observed in 2022.
