Xtract Resources Completes Reconnaissance, Begins Focused Antimony Exploration in Morocco
Xtract Resources, through its 80%-owned Moroccan venture Wildstone, has completed a 90-day reconnaissance programme across its antimony exploration licences in Morocco.
The licences span approximately 380 km² within the Fez-Meknes and Beni Mellal-Khenifra regions, strategically located inside the so-called “Antimony Triangle”—bounded by Rabat, Fez, and Khenifra. This area is known for hosting historical antimony production and significant mineral potential.
The initial programme has helped identify key targets, including areas of known antimony mineralisation, newly discovered mineralised structures, and potential extensions of antimony-bearing veins, along with several former producing mines.
Following the successful completion of the reconnaissance phase, Wildstone has launched a targeted exploration campaign across high-priority zones.
The initiative is led by Xtract’s technical team in collaboration with Moroccan geologists, chosen for their specific expertise in antimony exploration and mining.
A Morocco-based exploration services firm has also been contracted to carry out geophysical surveys, diamond drilling, and supporting fieldwork.
The current exploration team consists of seven members, with plans to expand by hiring a mining engineer.
Xtract reports ongoing engagement with Moroccan ministries, landowners, and local small-scale miners. These partnerships aim to leverage local experience in the sourcing, processing, and trade of antimony ores to support exploration and potential development.
Ground magnetic orientation surveys have already been conducted over known mineralised zones to establish geophysical signatures, which will now guide further exploration across the broader licence area.
“Our team has completed the initial reconnaissance programme over Wildstone’s antimony licences. The results are positive and provide a solid foundation for potential antimony resource development in Morocco,” said Colin Bird, Chairperson of Xtract Resources.
“We now have a framework to build a meaningful antimony business focused on resource definition and sustainable development.”
Xtract highlights Morocco as a well-established mining jurisdiction, known for producing phosphate, copper, gold, zinc, manganese, tungsten, tin, and critical minerals such as antimony. The country also enjoys strong trade relationships with the EU, US, and China.
Wildstone currently holds 24 exploration licences, not 15 as previously reported in February. These include 20 licences issued in July 2023 and four more acquired in May 2025.
The licences are not contiguous and are spread across central Morocco. They are valid until 2026 and 2028, respectively.
Xtract initially acquired a 50% stake in Wildstone on February 26, committing to a $900,000 investment over three years as the minimum required spend.
On July 15, the company increased its ownership to 80%, committing an additional $300,000 for exploration across the newly acquired licences.
Both Wildstone and Xtract intend to evaluate all 24 licences and prioritise targets for further development.
Exploration activities will include drilling, with the aim of progressing select projects to small-scale production or eventually assessing their suitability for large-scale operations.
“Subject to exploration success, Wildstone anticipates expanding its workforce to include mining and mineral processing personnel to support future operations,” the company said.
