Toyota has received official approval from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) to advance the development and production of next-generation solid-state batteries.
This milestone is crucial for both Toyota and Japan’s broader efforts to enhance domestic battery production and reduce dependence on foreign supply chains.
With METI’s certification, Toyota can accelerate its ambitious plans for battery innovation, particularly focusing on solid-state technology.
The approval also extends to Toyota’s key subsidiaries, Prime Planet Energy & Solutions and Primearth EV Energy, both of which are poised to mass-produce advanced batteries.
This marks a significant step forward in the company’s strategy to lead in the electric vehicle (EV) market while supporting Japan’s goal of energy independence.
