Uru Metals Secures 30-Year Mining Right for Zeb Nickel Project on the Bushveld Complex’s Northern Limb
South Africa’s Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has officially granted and executed a 30-year mining right for Uru Metals’ Zeb Nickel Project, located on the Northern Limb of the Bushveld Complex in Limpopo Province.
The mining right, issued to the project company Lesego Platinum Uitloop (LPU), is valid until 2055 and covers more than 4,703 hectares across portions of the Bloemhof 4KS, Uitloop 3KS, Amatava 41KS, and Piet Potgietersrust Town & Townlands 44KS farms within the Mogalakwena Local Municipality.
According to Uru Metals, post-execution formalities are underway, with the mining right currently being prepared for registration at the Mineral and Petroleum Titles Registration Office in Pretoria. The company plans to provide an update once registration is complete.
Advancing Exploration Work
In parallel, Uru Metals has commenced ground gravity and frequency-domain electromagnetic (EM) surveys over two high-priority targets at the Zeb Nickel Project.
These surveys, announced on 16 October 2025, aim to refine the geometry of identified conductors and define drill-ready targets for the next exploration phase.
Further updates will be released once the contractor’s modelling report is finalized, including details on drill parameters and scheduling.
CEO: “A Major Milestone for Project De-Risking”
Uru Metals CEO John Zorbas hailed the milestone, stating:
“The granting and execution of the mining right materially de-risk the Zeb Nickel Project by securing our operating rights for 30 years and positioning us to attract quality partners as we advance. Our immediate priority is to complete the ground EM and gravity surveys, finalize modelling, and deliver a focused drill plan on the most promising targets.”
Strategic Position in South Africa’s Critical Metals Sector
Uru Metals, a mineral exploration and development company, is focused on advancing critical metals projects within South Africa.
The Zeb Nickel Project, which received integrated environmental authorization in August 2024, is strategically positioned within one of the world’s most mineral-rich regions — the Bushveld Complex, known for hosting major deposits of nickel, platinum-group metals, and other critical minerals.
