NextSource Materials Confirms Molo Graphite Mine Operations Unaffected by Madagascar’s Political Turmoil
Battery materials producer NextSource Materials has reassured shareholders that operations at its Molo graphite mine in southern Madagascar remain unaffected by the country’s current political unrest. Shipments of its SuperFlake® graphite concentrate are also continuing as planned.
“Mining and processing activities at the Molo mine continue under normal conditions,” the company stated. “NextSource is maintaining its regular production and logistics schedules, and shipments of SuperFlake graphite to international customers are proceeding from the Port of Tulear without disruption.”
The company emphasized its ongoing collaboration with local communities and stakeholders, ensuring stability and continuity around its operations. It reaffirmed its commitment to the wellbeing of employees, the local community, and social development programs in Madagascar, all of which continue as scheduled.
NextSource added that it is closely monitoring developments in Antananarivo, Madagascar’s capital city, located approximately 900 km from the Molo site.
The statement follows recent political upheaval in Madagascar, where Colonel Michael Randrianirina was sworn in as President on Friday after a coup d’état that forced former President Andry Rajoelina to flee the country earlier this week.
