Toronto-based NextSource Materials has successfully completed its first commercial shipments of SuperFlake graphite concentrate from the Molo mine in Madagascar.
Full container loads of high-quality, coarse-flake graphite concentrate have been shipped from the Port of Tulear to destinations in Germany and the United States under existing offtake agreements.
These initial shipments are targeted at high-demand markets for premium graphite products, including refractory materials, graphite foils for consumer electronics, and fire-retardant applications.
NextSource President and CEO Craig Scherba highlighted this milestone as a significant step forward for the company, positioning it as a key supplier of critical materials to global markets while contributing to economic growth in Madagascar.
The Molo mine’s Phase 1 operations are currently being optimized to reach its nameplate production capacity of 17,000 tons per year of graphite concentrate.
Additionally, NextSource is expanding its operations with a downstream graphite value-add business. The company plans to introduce battery anode facilities capable of large-scale production of coated, spheronized, and purified graphite, ready for direct supply to battery and automotive customers outside existing Asian supply chains.
