Marula Mining’s Southern African Lithium and Tantalum Mining subsidiary has secured a mining permit for its Blesberg lithium and tantalum mine in the Northern Cape.
The permit, valid for two years until May 24, 2026, covers 5 hectares and allows for the development and open-pit mining of lithium, tantalum, niobium ores, and feldspar at Blesberg. This permit is in addition to the already approved stockpile reprocessing operations.
The permit enables the company to advance open-pit mining and development activities while the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) completes its approval process for the mining right application.
Marula is now moving forward with initial surface development work and clearance activities, followed by the planned open-pit development and conventional drill-and-blast, load-and-haul mining operations.
The company is in the process of appointing a local mining contractor for the development work and associated open-pit mining activities, expected to be completed in the current quarter.
