Africa-focused battery metals investment and exploration company Marula Mining has appointed Fred Butia as its Logistics and Procurement Manager for East Africa.
Butia brings over 13 years of experience in logistics, exports, imports, customs documentation, warehousing, and community relations within East Africa’s mining industry.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Makerere University Business School in Uganda.
This appointment comes at a crucial time as Marula Mining is experiencing significant growth and increased export sales in East Africa.
Butia’s expertise will support the company’s ongoing and future operations in the region.
Marula Mining has made significant progress with its investment at the Larisoro manganese mine in Samburu County, Northern Kenya.
Under a recently signed export logistics agreement with Scan Global Logistics Kenya, manganese ore is being transported to Nairobi for sale under two existing sales and offtake agreements, including one with UK-based Fujax UK, a global metals, minerals, and energy commodities trading group.
Butia will collaborate closely with Larisoro mine manager Ben Kiprotich and Marula East Africa GM Edward Ruheni to ensure smooth and timely deliveries of mineral ores from the company’s current and upcoming mining operations in East Africa.
Butia will begin his role later this month, starting with visits to the company’s Larisoro mine, Kinusi copper mine, and the Nyorinyori and NyoriGreen graphite projects in Tanzania.
