Marula Mining reports significant progress in its mining and processing activities at the Larisoro manganese mine in Kenya’s Samburu County.
Following an agreement with Kenyan manganese operator Gems and Industrial Minerals (GIM), Marula has commenced exploration activities and formalized agreements with GIM to secure a commercial interest in the mine.
The company has initiated a $1.75 million exploration program, along with refurbishment and upgrade works on the existing processing plant to increase monthly production rates.
Plans include investing $1.5 million in new mining, crushing, screening, and processing equipment to elevate monthly manganese ore production to 10,000 tons.
Specialist Kenyan consultants have been engaged for plant refurbishment and modification, with work set to commence imminently.
Refurbishment efforts aim to achieve initial production levels of 5,000 tons per month by the second quarter, with subsequent expansion to 10,000 tons.
Installation of new processing equipment remains on schedule for the second quarter, alongside the arrival of new mining gear.
High-grade manganese ores from the mine are undergoing final sorting and sampling, with initial sales planned for May.
Marula is also initiating community-based initiatives in collaboration with local leaders, emphasizing its commitment to providing employment opportunities and fostering community development.
CEO Jason Brewer expressed satisfaction with the progress, highlighting the company’s confidence in meeting production targets and expanding operations.
With first manganese ore sales on the horizon, Marula anticipates further updates on its developmental endeavors.
