Zimbabwean mining company Kuvimba Mining House has finalized a $310 million agreement to construct a lithium processing plant with a capacity of 3 million tons per year at the Sandawana mine in Mberengwa.
The Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) agreement was established between Kuvimba Mining and a consortium of British and Chinese investors.
The facility is expected to become operational within 18 months, initially producing 600,000 metric tons of lithium concentrate annually.
After six years of operation by the consortium, the plant will be transferred to the Zimbabwean government.
