The DELPHOS company, a pioneer in fundraising, represented in the Democratic Republic of Congo by the Buenassa company, has affirmed its intention to mobilize 350 million US dollars for the installation of a cobalt and copper processing refinery. in the country.
The managers of this company announced this ambitious project on Friday, November 17, 2023, during an audience granted to them by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the National Economy.
According to the communication services of the Ministry of the Economy of the DRC, the President of this firm, Roya Rahmani, and its Director General, Wesley Davis, came to request the facilitation and support of the Minister of the Economy for the implementation of this project.
Indeed, this company aims to produce copper cathodes to the LME (London Metal Exchange) standard, i.e. 99.99% degree of purity, and to make cobalt sulfate, a step above the cobalt sulfate available on the market in order to be able to serve as the precursor of the battery.
“We are asking for your support for the operationalization of this very beneficial project for the Democratic Republic of Congo, because it will finally put the country on the path to profitable gain for all Congolese unlike mining exploitation and exports such as done today.
We will bring processing back locally by installing a modern refinery in the DRC. DELPHOS is ready to find 350 million USD from its partners to invest in this project.
We are requesting the Government’s involvement in financing feasibility studies through a public utility subsidy, a necessary condition to convince investors and an acceleration in the operationalization procedure. », declared the President of DELPHOS.
It should be noted that this project is carried out by the Buenassa company which represents the DELPHOS firm in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The same source informs that in his capacity as President of the Economic and Financial Commission of the Congolese Government, Vital Kamerhe assured his guests of his involvement in approaching all the sectoral Ministers concerned by this project, in particular the Minister of Industry, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Energy, and the Minister of Planning.
