The Industry Promotion Fund (FPI) learns that 350 million USD have been made available by a mining firm for the installation of a copper and cobalt refinery plant in the former province of Katanga.
According to a press release from the FPI, “Technical and legal commissions have been set up to accelerate the signing of the protocol between the Industry Promotion Fund (FPI), which will finance these pre-feasibility studies, and the Buenassa company representing the firm Delphos, which made available 350 million USD for the execution of work on the installation of a copper and cobalt refinery plant in the former province of Katanga, as part of the implementation of the master plan of industrialization of the DRC.”
According to this state structure, the task force set up to carry out this project is made up of experts from the Presidency of the Republic, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministries of Industry, Mines, the Buenassa company and consultants. The signing of this protocol will take place before the end of October.
Note that this project to install a copper and cobalt refinery in the DRC will reach its maturity threshold between 2024-2025.
The agreement for this firm specializing in the refining of Copper and Cobalt was secured by the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi during the Global Africa Business Initiative organized on the sidelines of the 78th general assembly of the organization in New York.
