Atlantic Lithium, an Africa-focused exploration and development company, has disclosed significant discoveries at its Ewoyaa lithium project in Ghana, marking a potential boost for an impending resource upgrade.
Notably, drilling activities beyond the current mineral resource estimate (MRE) have revealed extensive intervals of visible spodumene, indicating a substantial expansion prospect for the resource estimate.
A milestone was achieved in the 2023 drilling program with the longest continuous pegmatite interval of 106 meters recorded in hole GRC1020 at the Dog-Leg extension target, situated at the northern edge of the Ewoyaa main deposit.
Reported at shallow depths in three holes, the presence of visible coarse-grained spodumene fragments is a promising development.
These fragments align with the preferred P1-type spodumene pegmatite, crucial for the dense media separation (DMS) process in the project’s definitive feasibility study.
Ongoing resource drilling continues, aiming for the completion of an extended 26,500-meter program by the second quarter of 2024.
Expressing satisfaction with the recent findings, Atlantic’s Executive Chairperson Neil Herbert highlighted the significance of broad intervals of visible coarse-grained spodumene observed in multiple drill holes, emphasizing the improved confidence in an updated resource estimate upon the completion of the ongoing drilling program.
Herbert further highlighted the excitement surrounding the discovery of the longest pegmatite interval in the 2023 drilling program, underscoring the presence of visible coarse-grained spodumene over significant lengths at shallow depths.
These discoveries, occurring outside the current resource footprint, hold promise for enhancing the project’s potential.
The observed nature of the spodumene fragments aligns with the project’s planned DMS-only processing, further supporting positive outcomes and favorable recoveries at the Ewoyaa lithium processing plant.
