Argentina Lithium Unveils 302,000-Tonne Resource at Rincon West Lithium Project in Salta Province
Argentina Lithium & Energy Corp has announced the maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) for its Rincon West lithium brine project in Salta Province, Argentina, marking a major milestone in the company’s exploration and development strategy.
The results indicate measured and indicated resources containing 0.15 km³ of brine at an average grade of 296 mg/L lithium, equivalent to 238,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE).
An additional inferred resource of 0.08 km³ brine grading 216 mg/L lithium adds a further 64,000 tonnes of LCE, bringing the project’s total estimated resource to more than 300,000 tonnes of LCE.
A Strategic Milestone for Argentina Lithium
“This initial resource marks a pivotal step in unlocking the full potential of Rincon West and reinforces Argentina Lithium’s position at the centre of one of the most strategic lithium districts in the world,” said CEO Nikolaos Cacos.
“With Rio Tinto’s world-class Rincon Project as our direct neighbour and a strong offtake partnership with Stellantis, we are uniquely positioned to advance Rincon West rapidly and responsibly,” he added.
Cacos emphasized that the company’s focus now turns to advancing Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) studies and evaluating advanced extraction technologies, with the long-term goal of developing a scalable, sustainable lithium operation delivering “high-value returns for shareholders.”
Resource Details and Exploration Scope
The MRE covers the West Block properties—specifically the Villanoveño II and Rinconcita II mining concessions—spanning 2,931 hectares.
The estimate does not include the Paso de Sico concessions in the project’s northern section, which encompass an additional 3,742.9 hectares at Rincon Salar.
Cacos noted that the resource remains open at depth, providing strong potential for expansion through further drilling.
“Our exploration team will continue to evaluate deeper targets where additional resource potential has been identified,” he said.
The company’s broader portfolio, which includes Pocitos, Antofalla, and Incahuasi projects, further strengthens its growth pipeline and strategic position in Argentina’s lithium triangle.
Technical Work and Methodology
The Rincon West resource estimate was defined through 14 exploration boreholes, totalling 4,823.2 metres of diamond drilling, along with one 470-metre production well.
These campaigns, conducted between 2022 and 2024, were executed by AGV Falcon Drilling SRL under the supervision of Argentina Lithium’s geological team.
Drilling programs included continuous core sampling and porosity testing, while brine samples were collected using packer, bailer, and HydraSleeve methods to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Argentina Lithium & Energy Corp remains focused on acquiring and advancing lithium projects across Argentina to support the growing global demand for battery materials essential to the electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage industries.
