Jubilee Metals Group has announced the successful initial production of copper concentrate from the front-end module at its Roan concentrator plant in Zambia.
This newly produced copper concentrate will be refined at Jubilee’s Sable refinery to produce copper cathode, adding to the existing output of sulphide copper concentrate from Roan’s mill-and-float circuit, which is currently available on the market.
The company plans to progressively ramp up production from the front-end module throughout the third quarter of 2024.
Jubilee’s copper processing operations in Zambia now encompass the Roan mill-and-float circuit, the new front-end module, and the Sable Refinery.
The Sable Refinery is undergoing upgrades to enhance its total in-country copper processing capacity to over 25,000 tonnes per annum (tpa).
Jubilee Metals Group CEO, Leon Coetzer, expressed his excitement about the company’s progress: “It is an exciting time at Jubilee as we commence delivering on our growth projects.
The first upgraded concentrate produced from our processing modules is a significant milestone for the business, allowing Jubilee to commence filling the available copper production capacity at our Zambian operations.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated team and stakeholders for their support in achieving this milestone.”
Earlier in the month, Jubilee began operations at its Roan Upgrade project, which features a newly constructed front-end section designed to enhance the site’s processing capabilities.
This new addition bolsters the existing milling and flotation sections, increasing Roan’s overall capacity to up to 13,000 tpa of copper.
