London- and South Africa-listed battery metals miner Marula Mining has successfully commenced the shipping of manganese ore from the Larisoro manganese mine in Kenya.
Marula is transporting approximately 1,000 tons of manganese ore from the mine to Nairobi under a newly signed export logistics agreement with Scan Global Logistics Kenya (SGLK).
Once in Nairobi, the ore will be added to existing stockpiles of manganese. SGLK will then manage the loading of wagons and transport the total 1,250 tons of manganese ore to the port of Mombasa, Kenya.
Additionally, SGLK will oversee customs clearance and port-related shipping processes before the manganese ore is shipped to offtakers.
Marula had previously committed to delivering 2,000 tons of manganese ore by July 1; however, this target will now be reached by mid-July.
The company will receive payments upon confirmatory assay and tonnage reports at the destination ports.
Marula Mining plans to increase the volume of ore shipped through Mombasa port during the second half of the year.
