London-listed Aterian has received approval from the Ministry of Minerals and Energy in Botswana to finalize the acquisition of a 90% interest in Atlantis Metals, a private entity holding mineral prospecting licenses in Botswana. This acquisition positions Aterian to strengthen its presence in Southern Africa’s mineral market.
Atlantis Metals boasts a diverse portfolio of ten copper/silver and lithium projects spread across Botswana, covering a vast area of 4,486.11 square kilometers.
Additionally, Aterian has been granted six new prospecting licenses in the Kalahari Copperbelt, totaling 970.08 square kilometers.
These licenses, initially awarded for a three-year term with the option for two renewals, target the promising D’Kar Formation, renowned for hosting significant copper/silver deposits.
Aterian’s strategic focus on critical metals aligns with its exploration efforts in stable and business-friendly jurisdictions, emphasizing copper and lithium, essential for the global energy transition.
Furthermore, Aterian’s expansion in Botswana complements its exploration endeavors in Rwanda and Morocco, enhancing its footprint across Africa’s critical mineral landscape.
With ongoing target generation and exploration initiatives, Aterian is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing critical energy transition metals while contributing to regional development and economic growth.
