Graphite producer Volt Resources has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with US firm M2i Global Inc to provide the US Department of Defence (DoD) with up to 20,000 t/y of graphite.
Under the LoI, M2i will endeavor to secure a graphite procurement contract with the DoD for a duration of three years.
Volt will supply graphite with purity ranging from 94% to 99.5% from its subsidiary, Zavalievsky Graphite.
If feasible, Volt intends to expand the long-term graphite supply from Bunyu, Tanzania, as part of the Phase 2 production for M2i customers.
“Volt’s strategy to develop a diversified integrated supply chain for graphite and battery anode materials is gaining momentum, and the agreement with M2i Global is a continuation of this progress,” stated Volt’s Executive Chairman, Asimwe Kabunga.
“With the ability to supply natural flake graphite produced in Europe and future production from our Tanzania-based Bunyu graphite project, combined with battery anode material production technology advancing in the US, Volt offers future growth opportunities through the entire supply chain few graphite companies can match.”
